Antique floor specialists Ted Todd opened the doors of their new Margaret Street Design Centre on Thursday 6th July. The invitation only event displayed the brand’s unique 3m panels which included countless striking textures.

I was fortunate to attend the event and to meet the company’s commercial clients and staff as well as asking the Managing Director/Owner Robert Walsh some questions…

The Ted Todd Design Centre is now open to the public to enjoy their globally celebrated designs!

  1. Can you tell me about Ted Todd?

We’ve been making wood floors for nearly 25 years for people who love and appreciate unique, clever interior design. Our floors are unrivalled in quality, originality and creative flair. We offer antique, reclaimed and the finest new wood floors through Woodworks by Ted Todd as well as our Ted Todd collections of engineered planks, parquet and panels.

  1. Why did you choose Margaret Street?

We’ve been looking at the area for a while. Margaret Street offers us the perfect combination of access to our commercial clients, many of who work for architects and design consultancies nearby, as well as retail customers, with so many well-known interior names in the area.

  1. Do you feel the location matches your company’s values and branding?

Absolutely. We aim to work elegant, inspiring floors and our new home in Margaret Street and the work that has been done to both the interior and exterior helps to realise those values perfectly.

  1. What does Ted Todd have planned for the near future?

We have a lot planned for London Design Festival in September around the theme of Taking Time to Create. We want visitors to consider how long some of the wood in our antique and reclaimed floors has been around for, and how vital time is to creative processes generally.

  1. How would you best describe Fitzrovia?

It’s a well-established destination for anyone looking for design inspiration with a relaxed, sophisticated feel.
